Privacy Statement

ACORD has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our commitment to privacy. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for ACORD systems and networks (e.g. this website). All ACORD systems and networks are collectively referred to in this privacy statement as the “ACORD website.”

Information You Explicitly Provide

via Order Form:

To process your order, we require your name, billing address, phone number, email address, shipping address and credit card information. We use this information solely to process your order and, if any questions should arise, to contact you about your order. In general, we will try to contact you first by email and only if that fails, or if time is critical, will we try to contact you by phone. We share this information, and only that information which is absolutely necessary, with those third parties that are involved in the processing of your order. For example, the financial institution that issued your credit card and the shipping carrier that delivers your order.

via Help Desk Contact Form:

Should you decide to contact us through our information request form, we require your name and email address and will only use that information to send you a reply.

via Content Evaluation Download Form:

We make available evaluation versions of certain content and should you decide to download it, we ask for some information about you. This is used to validate the download and may be used to send you product information and announcements from time to time.

via Survey Form:

Our online surveys ask visitors for contact information. This information is used to contact the visitor when necessary.

via Attendee Registration Form for Events:

When you register as an attendee for an event, ACORD may request or require your name, contact information and, if there is a fee associated with your registration, payment information (e.g. credit card information). Your payment information will be used only to the extent necessary to process the payment of your registration fee. We share your payment information, and only that information which is absolutely necessary, with those third parties that are involved in the processing of your registration fee. Your name and certain contact information may be included in lists made available to attendees, exhibitors and/or sponsors of the event for which you are registering. ACORD will always give you the option to exclude your email address from any lists provided to event attendees, exhibitors and/or sponsors. Additionally, ACORD may include your name and contact information (including email address) in lists made available to entities with which ACORD co-manages events. This information may be used by ACORD and such co-managing entities to contact you regarding the event and/or for marketing purposes. ACORD will never sell, rent or lease a list containing your contact information to any third party.

via Interactive Facilities Made Available by ACORD:

The ACORD website may contain topical forums, calendars, private messaging systems, profile creation and display systems, and/or other communication facilities, designed to enable you to communicate with others. Use caution when disclosing information through such facilities as it may become publically available. The ACORD Website Terms of Use (and specifically, the section of that document entitled “Use of Content That You Elect To Submit To Or Through The Interactive Facilities Available On The ACORD Website”) describes ACORD’s use of personal information and other content that you explicitly provide via interactive facilities made available to you by ACORD including, without limitation, your name and photographs that you submit to ACORD through such facilities. You should review that document as it contains important information that is not repeated in this privacy statement. It is available for viewing here.

Information We Automatically Collect

ACORD records IP addresses in the aggregate for monitoring the level of activity on the ACORD website. We do not link this to your financial information. We may also use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, and to administer the ACORD website. ACORD tracks user traffic patterns throughout the ACORD website. We may do so by reading information from your web browser string (information contained in every user’s browser) and through your ACORD user ID, when you log into the ACORD website. ACORD sometimes tracks and catalogs the search terms that users enter in our search engines, but this tracking is not associated with individual users. ACORD also uses cookies. Cookies are small data files that are transferred to your computer's hard drive through your web browser when you visit a website. Cookies enable a website, such as the ACORD website, to recognize your computer, so that you may be provided with a quality, personalized website experience. Among other things, cookies enable a website to maintain information when you request a series of web pages. Without cookies, the ACORD website might not be able to, for example, recognize that you just completed the first step in a process so that the second step (and subsequent steps) can be presented to you. The ACORD website may use different kinds of cookies, including HTTP ("browser") cookies, as well as Flash cookies that are built for use with the Adobe® Flash® Player. You can manage cookies by using tools available on most Internet browsers. Most browsers will allow you to choose what cookies can be placed on your computer and to delete or disable cookies. Flash cookies may be removed by managing your settings within Adobe Flash Player. Please note that disabling cookies may prevent you from using specific features on the ACORD website. ACORD may permit certain third parties (such as our web analytics providers, application providers and in certain cases advertisers) to set and access cookies from the ACORD website. Those companies' uses of cookies are subject to their own privacy policies, not the ACORD Privacy Statement. ACORD may include “web beacons” (i.e. transparent GIF images) in HTML-formatted e-mail messages in order to determine which e-mail messages are opened, which addressees open them, and the times that such email messages are opened.

Additional Sharing of Information

Although unlikely, ACORD may be required by law enforcement or judicial authorities to provide personally identifiable information to government agencies or others. If demanded as part of a legal proceeding, we will provide this information upon receipt of the appropriate documentation.

Security

We utilize industry standard SSL encryption when accepting your credit card information during our online checkout process. Access to some computer data and files at ACORD are secured by password coding. Our network is behind a firewall designed to prevent unauthorized access.

Modification

ACORD may revise this privacy statement at any time by posting an updated version of it. You should visit this page from time to time to review the then-current version because the terms contained herein, as revised, will be binding on you if you continue using the ACORD website. Certain provisions of this privacy statement may be superseded by expressly designated legal notices or terms located on particular pages on ACORD’s website.
